Heptathlete Denise Lewis ensured her place in history with her gold medal performance at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Not only is she one of only six British women ever to have won an Olympic Track and Field gold medal, but she did so despite competing in the final two events with a serious leg injury, witnessed by millions of viewers worldwide. Awarded the OBE in 2000, her autobiography, Personal Best, was published in 2001. Denise’s media career is also expanding – she presents television shows as well as writing newspaper columns.
