Whitbread Book of the Year

Which book did you vote for as YOUR Whitbread Book of the Year?

Eragon by Christopher Paolini
reviewed by Adam Pipe

"The reason I am choosing this book is because:

I found that it was very exciting and I couldn’t put it down even when I was watching TV and eating dinner.  I love to read about Dragons so this was excellent for me and anybody else with a Dragon taste.

The funniest thing was when Eragon decided to name the baby dragon but he kept coming up with male names which the Dragon disagreed to and then finally he discovered that the Dragon was female.

The saddest thing was when Eragon and Brom, the story-teller were travelling and he died, it was upsetting in my mind since he was my favourite character.  The weirdest thing was all the spells that Eragon produced they seemed to be written in a made-up language or a foreign one.  But it did have a translation part at the back of the book which was very useful and let me understand what I read.  When Eragon was flying on the Dragon I felt as though I was too.

I think that the end made me yearn for a sequel.

If I was to put Eragon into genre it would be under terrific Fantasy."
