Booksellers Association

The Booksellers Association of the United Kingdom and Ireland Limited, representing over 95% of booksellers in the UK and Ireland, offers advice and information in a multitude of areas, from book prizewinners to price-marking legislation. They run conferences, meetings and events across the country and throughout the year; and, as well as helping in marketing bookshops through co-operative action, they publish invaluable trade directories of publishers, booksellers and suppliers to the trade.

Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals

The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals is the leading professional body for libraries and information managers, with around 24,000 members who work in all sectors, including business and industry, further and higher education, schools, local and central government departments and agencies, the health service, the voluntary sector, national and public libraries.

National Reading Campaign

The National Reading Campaign, delivered by the National Literacy Trust and supported by the Department of Education and Skills, supports reading promotion across the country.

The Campaign is currently encouraging more men and boys to read for pleasure through its Reading Champions Scheme. The aim is to identify positive male role models who not only enjoy reading themselves but who actively share their enthusiasm with others. They may be well-known names who are champions in their own field such as sport; professionals such as teachers, writers or librarians; or men or boys of any age who inspire others to get into the reading habit.
